AQUARIUM

& 2nd Tuesday of the month. Modest, but interesting
diversity of aquatic life.
ULSOOR LAKE
Phone: 573114 (0900 to 1800) Closed Wednesdays. Covering
1.5 sq.km, offers boating and motor boat rides on hire,
and a swimming pool.
Historical
VIDHANA SOUDHA
Built in 1954 in granite. Massive construction. Houses
the State Legislature and the Secretariat. Illuminated
on Sunday at 1900 hrs.
ATTARA KACHERI
OPP. VIDHANA SOUDHA was built in 1867 to house the
Secretariat. Presently it houses the High Court and
several lower courts.
TIPU'S PALACE
CITY FORT (0600 to 1800) Begun by Hyder Ali and
completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. Tipu called it `The
Envy of Heaven'. Constructed mainly in wood, it has fine
intricately sculpted arches surrounded by exquisite
minarets. .

1537 in mud by Kempe Gowda and later by Hyder Ali in
wood. Elaborate architecture with arches, minarets and
paintings.
BANGALORE PALACE
PALACE GROUNDS Phone: 3341778. Constructed in 1887.
Built similar to medieval castles in Normandy and
England. Its interiors have very elegant wood carvings.
BULL TEMPLE
Bull Temple Road, Basavangudi Dravidian-style temple,
built by Kempe Gowda. It has a huge monolithic Bull
4.5m. high and 6.5m long, which is revered for being the
vahana (vehicle) of Shiva.
