India, UAE should work together in the information technology sector
Dubai, Oct 10: India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can work together in the information technology sector to market Indian IT solutions to the Gulf states, the Middle East and Central Asia, according to a visiting senior Indian official.
Addressing the Indian Business Council, R M Abhyanker, additional secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, said Indian business should utilise Dubai's communication bandwidth and IT infrastructure to enhance its reach across the Arab countries. He urged the Gulf Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to take advantage of the facilities provided by the Dubai office of the Electronics and Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) for sourcing solutions from India's small and medium enterprises.
Dubai could become the hub for Gulf NRIs in the field of Indian IT exports, particularly solutions in the Arabic language. Already many countries in the region are looking at India in the areas of education health and securities. NRI entrepreneurs here can take advantage of growing business opportunities in the Gulf region by working through backward linkages with Indian firms and institutions, Abhyanker suggested.
