Compaq, Cisco announces global strategic alliance
in internet protocol telephony
Bangalore, Aug 13: Global Computer major Compaq and Networking provider
Cisco today announced a global strategic alliance in Internet Protocol
Telephony to India to deliver solutions that increase productivity,
enhance communication and reduce costs of the enterprise.
The alliance would deliver the benefits of IP Telephony, a key component
of Cisco's Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data (AVVID) to
the Indian enterprise. Compaq global services would use its expertise to
deploy solutions that offer a smooth and seamless transition from legacy
based PBX systems to IP Telephony solutions, according to a release issued
here today by the Compaq. Compaq would also provide a pilot implementation
for customers to test the IP Telephony solutions and expand the technology
implementation.
Compaq Computer India Managing Director Balu Doraisamy said the company
saw a huge potential in the Indian market for IP telephony, with the
ability to provide greater functionality than traditional PABX solutions
and provide a reduce total cost of ownership.
